About Malene

Malene Kai Bell, M.A., M.Msc. is the author of Lovable, a children’s book for women and girls, and the subsequent curriculum and resource guides. She is mother to a beautiful daughter and loves adventure. She hikes, loves to travel, has explored Chichen Itza, swam in Mexico’s beautiful cenotes, put pedal to the metal while four-wheeling in the Moroccan desert, and has traversed the contours of loss and trauma that some call life -- deep enough to drown in.

Malene says that meditation transformed her life, while self-love rooted in dignity helped her reclaim her power. An avid meditator, she has practiced mindfulness and meditation for nearly two decades. She is also a Kundalini and Usui Reiki Master who has studied multiple holistic healing modalities including Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, Brain Gym, Touch for Health, Access Bars, and Quantum Touch. She earned a B.A. in English from Morgan State University, an M.A. in Writing from Johns Hopkins University, and an M.Msc in Holistic Coaching from The University of Sedona.

In her former life she was a middle school teacher, high school teacher, college professor, and a conflict management facilitator and coach, among other roles. Throughout it all, she has been guided by the principle of "do no harm," and a deep desire to empower others through inner transformation. Her work has consistently centered on encouraging people to lay down the stones they throw at themselves, and to practice self-acceptance and self-kindness while recouping their inherent power.
